Australian Island Resorts

A comprehensive list of resort locations on Australia’s East Coast including the Great Barrier Reef.

Edwards Aviation can fly you by private jet to almost all of these resorts – in the few cases where there is no airstrip suitable for landing a Citation corporate jet we can organise a smaller aircraft to meet us at the closest available airport.

Green Island
Green Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef does not have an airstrip, but we can fly you to Cairns and arrange transfer by boat. The island, 27 km from Cairns is one of the most unique and memorable destinations in North Queensland and is described as “A coral cay, a luxury resort, a natural wonderland unlike any other – Indulgence, romance and adventure awaits on this tropical island paradise…”

Wilson Island
Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef does not have an airstrip, but we can fly you to Gladstone…
This private island has some of of the world’s most elusive creatures, and is ranked as one of the ten best island resorts on the Great Barrier Reef.
Wilson Island is just 70 kilometres off the Queensland Coast, northeast of Gladstone and close to Heron Island. Gladstone is some 500 km north of Brisbane.

Bedara Island
Bedara Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef does not have an airstrip, but we can fly you to Tully and arrange transfer by boat. It is 10 kilometres offshore from the coastal village of Mission Beach, midway between Townsville and Cairns.
Bedarra is one of the most beautiful places in the world and the proprietors of the resort have a philosophy of sustainablity and have made efforts to significantly reduce their impact on the environment.

Mission Beach does not have an airport. The closest major airport is Tully.
Mission Beach is a small town on the coast of North Queensland. The popular tourist destination of Dunk Island lies 4 kilometres offshore, with Bedara Island just a little further.

Dunk Island
The Aboriginal name for Dunk Island is ‘Coonanglebah’ – the isle of peace and plenty. The island has rainforest walks, a golf course, jet skis, catamarans, the Spa of Peace and Plenty and much more besides. Dunk Island is a rainforest island paradise, and has been extensively rebuilt after the devastating cyclone Yasi of 2011.
